Dog Parks

Two dog parks are available to dog owners. Both are located in the Ta’ Qali, one next to the picnic area and the other next to the football grounds. The former is spread over 100m2 whereas the latter is spread over 1,827m2. Bother are parks are enclosed by a fence and provide a safe space where dog owners can allow their dogs to run freely and socialise with other dogs.

Both parks provide dog playing equipment such as tunnels, weave poles, hound hoops, hurdle jumps and ramps and are both equipped with dog bins and drinking water facilities.

Dog owners/handlers who wish to take their dogs to these dog parks must follow these rules:

  1. Dog owners/handlers accept full responsibility for themselves, their children/guests and their dogs when using the parks.
  2. Visitors enter and use the facility at their own risk.
  3. First time visitors should use the parks at off peak times in order to maintain a safe environment for all.
  4. Only dogs that are registered and micro chipped are allowed into the parks.
  5. Dog handlers must be at least 18 years of age.
  6. Unaccompanied children are not allowed to enter the parks.
  7. A maximum of 3 dogs per handler is allowed in the parks.
  8. Dog owners/handlers must supervise their dogs at all times and keep a leash at hand.
  9. Dog owners/handlers cannot leave the park without their dogs.
  10. Dogs that are off the leash must be under voice control of their owners/handlers.
  11. Dogs that cannot be controlled by voice control must be on the leash at all times.
  12. Dogs showing signs of aggression must be removed immediately. Temperamental dogs must be kept muzzled.
  13. Dog owners must ensure that their dogs are fully vaccinated prior to using these parks.
  14. Injured or sick dogs and dogs showing signs of parasitic infestation are not allowed in these parks.
  15. Choke, spike and prong collars are not permitted.
  16. Dog waster must be cleaned by the owners/handlers immediately and disposed of in the dog bins.
  17. Even though the parks are equipped with double gated entrances, owners/handlers must ensure that no dogs are standing at or near the gates as people are entering/leaving the parks. Owners/handlers should not enter the park if another dog is at the gate unattended as it might escape through the entrance.
  18. Owners/handlers are legally responsible for any damage, injury or illness their dogs may cause to themselves or other dogs or people. Particular care should be given to children to avoid them getting hurt.
  19. No food is allowed in the parks. Only small dog treats are permitted. Smoking and alcoholic beverages are also forbidden in the parks.
  20. In severe heat, aggressive dogs and puppies (under 4 months) are prohibited from entering the parks.
  21. Animals other than dogs are not allowed in the parks.

The parks are open from 6:30am to 8:30pm in the summer months and from 6:30am to 7:30pm in the winter months.
